What is Zakat?

Zakat is a compulsory annual charity for eligible Muslims, amounting to 2.5% of zakatable wealth if it exceeds the Nisab threshold for one lunar year.

It applies to:

  • Cash & Bank Balances
  • Gold & Silver
  • Business Inventory
  • Investments (stocks, funds)
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Trade Property
  • Receivables & Other Assets

After deducting immediate liabilities (short-term debts, bills, payables), the remaining net wealth is used to calculate Zakat.

Nisab Value in 2025

The Nisab is the minimum threshold of wealth that makes Zakat obligatory. It is based on either:

  • Gold Nisab: 85 grams of gold
  • Silver Nisab: 595 grams of silver

Our calculator lets you input current gold/silver prices per gram in your currency, ensuring accurate calculations.
